By spending an hour in the dark, The Laguna, a Luxury Collection Resort & Spa, Nusa Dua, Bali joins millions around the world to send a powerful message about a brighter future for the planet. The hotel turn off its lights in observance of Earth Hour, the global environmental awareness event created by the World Wildlife Fund (WWF).

Last year, Earth Hour 2010 became the biggest Earth Hour ever. A record 128 countries and territories joined the global display of climate action. Iconic buildings and landmarks from Asia Pacific to Europe and Africa to the Americas switched off. People across the world from all walks of life turned off their lights and came together in celebration and contemplation of the one thing we all have in common – our planet. Saturday, 26 March 2011 8.30P.M. – 9.30P.M.

Activities include minimising lighting in various areas and reducing the consumption of energy in other areas including turning off water falls, laundry machine and pump circulation. During this time you will notice a change in the resorts lighting, Restaurants and Bars will be full displayed by candles as well as the Lobby.

Michelin Star Chef Marcello Fabbri at The St. Regis Bali Resort and The Laguna


Marcello Fabbri first gained experience in the kitchen of his Aunt’s hotel in Rimini at the age of 9 and when he turned 13, the Italian resolved to make a career of his passion for cooking. Marcello has worked under world class chefs such as Gino Angelini, who is today accepted as the best Italian chef in Los Angeles, Gualtiero Marchesi in Sardinia and Mario Gamba in Munich.

Marcello has been with Weimar’s historic Hotel Elephant since 1993 in the capacity of head chef at the Anna Amalia Restaurant and has established the restaurant as the top gourmet restaurant in the eastern part of the German Federation and with his enduring excellence; he led the restaurant to win an award in the Michelin Guide in November 2010. With this award, Anna Amalia is, for the eight time in a row, the only restaurant there to possess the coveted star in a long time.

Some prominent guests who have dined on Marcello’s creations include the German Chancellor Schroder, Russian Federation President Putin and singer Jennifer Lopez.

Signature Beachfront Restaurant Kayuputi presents, for the second year running, an opulent and sumptuous a la carte menu on Saturday, 12 and Sunday, 13 February 2011, showcasing the defined creation of Michelin Star Chef, Marcello Fabbri together with the restaurant’s expert chefs.

Marcello will create an unforgettable dining experience as he invents a culinary extravaganza with his creative flair which extends from hand made lobster tortellini and lemon risotto with scallops Carpaccio and Karat oscetra caviar to an inspiring selection of main courses which include Tasmanian salmon gently poached in olive oil, slow braised local pigeon as well as grain fed Australian lamb loin bone-in, culminating in a decadent dessert of caramelized mango phyllo tart with pannacotta and peach-rosemary sorbet.

Guests can indulge in the Michelin Star Chef’s a la carte dishes or create for themselves a 3, 4 or 6 course set menu from the chef’s recommended a la carte dishes.

Guests can also partake of a delightful private dinner with a 7-course truffles menu specially created and prepared by the Michelin Star Chef on both Sunday, 20 and Monday, 21 February. The night commences with cocktails at 6:30pm followed by dinner at Mayang Sari restaurant.

The Laguna, a Luxury Collection Resort & Spa, Nusa Dua, Bali welcomes the first villa guests on 16 December 2010. The guests are staying for two weeks at the new Laguna Pool Villas that recently opened.

Mr. Mark van Leeuwen, the Hotel Manager of The Laguna Bali had the pleasure to warm welcome the guests in the villa lobby accompanied by Executive Committees and Department Heads and toast with the guests.

The Laguna Bali Resort supports the Elementary School – SDN No. 6 Benoa with a set of Nature and Environment Book Series.

The Laguna, a Luxury Collection Resort & Spa, Nusa Dua, Bali supports the Elementary School – SDN No. 6 Benoa by providing a set of Nature and Environment Book Series. The book presentation on Tuesday, 21 December 2010 presented by Human Resources Department on behalf of The Laguna Bali and was well received by the Head Master and Teachers of the school.

The book donation is part of the Starwood Cares “Care for Community” with the funds raised to the value of AUD 1,000 by FoodLink Pty Ltd Australia and officially presented by Mr. David Addison, the Managing Director of Avanti Event who organised the FoodLink event at The Laguna Bali last 28 October 2010. This gesture of goodwill by FoodLink Pty Ltd included text books and stationery to the SDN No. 6 Benoa, The Laguna’s mentoring school for the education of the children and is an intend of corporate social responsibility offering direct benefits to the children in the continued education.
